Parra – パーラ
アムステルダム在住   イラストレーター/デザイナー/アーティスト。

独学で学んだアーティストの多くは、えてして古くさいスタイルに陥りがちですが、パーラは例外と言え、きわめてモダンでポスト・ポップなアプローチになっています。独特なスタイルと手書きのタッチで創りだされるイメージには、ユーモアがいきいきとあふれています。彼の創りだすイメージは、世界中のさまざまな展覧会、クラブのフライヤー、CDのスリーブジャケット、ビルボードなどで見ることができます。独特のキャラクターの口が鳥のクチバシのようになっているのは、人間はおしゃべりだから、という理由だそう。

ドローイングをパソコンで処理した作品がほとんどでしたが、2008年暮れから本格的にペインティングを始め、2008年12月、パリのレイジー・ドッグ・ギャラリーでペインティングやインスタレーションの作品を発表。2009年もロサンジェルスとベルリンで個展をひらくなど、2009年現在で、もっとも盛り上がっているアーティストのひとりといえるでしょう。ロンドンのエージェントBig Activeに所属し、自身でも洋服のライン、Rockwellを展開しています。

The mostly self-taught artist seems to channel a Vintage form with curves, yet with a decidedly modern, post-pop approach. His vibrant and often humorous images, which feature a distinctive, hand-drawn feel, can be seen printed on paper in various exhibitions around the globe, on a flyer for a club near you, on the sleeve of a record, on billboards and silkscreened on tees and sweaters.

Parra is represented by the London based agency Big Active (www.bigactive.com) and is co owner of the new wave clothing label Rockwell (www.rockwellclothing.com).
